The healthcare accelerator program BaseLaunch from BaselArea.swiss, supports startups from the healthcare sector. In addition to prominent pharmaceutical companies, it can now count the consultancy firm KPMG as one of its partners.
BaseLaunch assists innovative healthcare startups on the path to market readiness. This past September, 13 of the most promising projects were selected from a total of 112 applications. They will receive funding and professional advice over a three-month period.
Partner companies of the project, including renowned industry leaders such as Johnson & Johnson Innovation, Novartis Venture Fund, Pfizer and Roche, provide support to the startups. This November, the consultancy firm KPMG has also joined the program. Martin Rohrbach, Head of Life Sciences at KPMG Switzerland, said that KPMG was won over by the mindset of the driving forces at BaseLaunch. Its independent let’s-do-it mentality is tremendously important in international competition, where Basel is in league with Boston, Singapore, Berlin and London, explained Rohrbach. BaseLaunch also fits into KPMG’s objective to promote Switzerland’s innovative capacity and help shape the Basel region’s appeal as a life sciences location.
